Evelyn Gordon
Evelyn Gordon immigrated to Israel in 1987, immediately after obtaining her degree in electrical engineering from Princeton University, and has worked as a journalist and commentator in Israel since 1990. She was a reporter for the Jerusalem Post, primarily covering the Supreme Court and the Knesset, and has been a regular columnist for that paper for over a decade. She currently works for the English edition of Haaretz, blogs regularly for Commentary magazine's "Contentions" site and contributes occasional articles to the magazine, and serves as a contributing editor of the Israeli quarterly Azure.

Meet Our Visiting Fellows
Peter Huessy
Peter Huessy is President of GeoStrategic Analysis, founded in 1981, and the senior defense consultant at the Air Force Association and National Security Fellow at the American Foreign Policy Council. For the past three decades, he has hosted the Congressional Breakfast Seminar Series on Capitol Hill. He specializes in securing support for key defense policy initiatives. From 1981-2011, Mr. Huessy helped the U.S. Air Force with strategic assessments of the threats facing the U.S. He has lectured at the U.S. Naval Academy, the Joint Military Intelligence College, U.S. National War College, Johns Hopkins SAIS, the Institute of World Politics, and the University of Maryland.
Mr. Huessy has served as a consultant monitoring budget and policy developments on missile defense, nuclear deterrence, terrorism and a wide range of proliferation, arms control and homeland security issue. He has written for National Review, Human Events, National Interest, Family Security Matters, Big Peace, Fox Forum and Stonegate Institute, and has appeared frequently on television and radio discussing key national security issues.

Yaakov Lappin
Yaakov Lappin is a journalist for the Jerusalem Post, where he covers police and national security affairs, and author of the book The Virtual Caliphate.
On a daily basis, Yaakov provides breaking news coverage of major incidents within Israel and the West Bank. He also covers key developments affecting Israeli national security and strategic developments in the Middle East. Yaakov has appeared as a guest commentator on several international and Israeli news programs for both television and radio, and gives regular talks to a range of audiences.
Yaakov holds an MA in the History of International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BA in Politics and Modern History from the University of Manchester.

Gabriel Scheinmann
Gabriel Max Scheinmann
is a Ph.D. candidate in Government at Georgetown University, focusing on international security, alliance architecture, and grand strategy. His dissertation work examines the impact of external great power alliances on local conflicts. He is a 2008 graduate of Harvard College, where he concentrated in Government and edited and co-founded the first Harvard College journal focusing on Middle Eastern affairs.
In addition, he serves as a consultant to the Japan Chair at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, where he is conducting research on the history of U.S. grand strategy towards Asia. In 2010-2011 and 2011-2012, he has been a Rumsfeld Foundation Graduate Fellow. His publications have been featured in the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and the Hudson Institute-New York. He is fluent in English and French, speaks Hebrew, and has studied Arabic.

Dr. Ehud Eilam
Ehud Eilam (Ph.D) is a lecturer and researcher of Israel's national security and IDF doctrine. He has been involved, academically and practically with the study of those subjects for more than 20 years. He served, among other functions, as lecturer and academic instructor in the IDF's Staff and Command College, was a research associate of the Begin – Sadat Center for Strategic Studies in Bar – Ilan University and was consulted as an expert by major Israeli radio stations: IDF voice and channel B.
Dr. Eilam conducted vast private researches on military subjects, such as major military factors in a future confrontation between Israel and Egypt, the resemblance between the IDF and Western militaries like the United States and more. He published articles in various publications such as the Israel Journal of Foreign Affairs.
Dr. Eilam served in the Israeli air force, 3 regular years and additional17 years in the reserves, in roles such as team leader in a Hawk missile battery, civilian military analyst in the campaign planning department and as a lecturer in his field. In 2008 he received his honorable discharge in the rank of First Sergeant Major. He now lives in the DC area as a Permanent Resident.
