On November 19, a JINSA delegation visited U.S. Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, the east coast homeport of the U.S. Navy's nuclear-powered Ohio-class ballistic missile submarines. The boats, also known as Trident submarines for the 24 nuclear-tipped Trident ballistic missiles they carry, form one third of America's nuclear deterrent arsenal along with the Air Force’s air- and ground-based missiles.

On May 14, a group of JINSA members visited Hurlburt Field, home of the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), to gain a greater understanding of AFSOC's contributions to current American military operations. The visit was planned as part of JINSA’s Base Visit Program.

On January 28, a group of JINSA members took advantage of the opportunity to tour the Sector and meet the men and women who serve the South Florida community, and the nation as a whole.

On November 18-19, a JINSA delegation co-chaired by Board of Directors members Jonathan Hochberg and Jonathan Loew visited Marine Corps Base Quantico to observe the making of United States Marine Corps officers.

While the U.S. Government has expended enormous political, economic and military assets on the Middle East and Asia, benign neglect of South and Central America and the Caribbean could find America losing her neighbors economically to China and India, and politically to nations such as Iran that have aligned with Cuba and Venezuela. A March 2008 JINSA visit to the U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) located near Miami and Joint-Interagency Task Force South (JIATF-S) in Key West focused on the issues, challenges, successes and failures of U.S. foreign policy.

JINSA Vice President David Justman details the recent visit to Camp Pendleton to observe the newest tactics and equipment employed by the Marines. The June visit was hosted by Maj. Gen. Michael Lehnert, Commanding General, Marine Corps Installations West, and escorted by 2008 JINSA Flag and General Officer Trip to Israel alumnus Maj. Gen. Mark Lott, USMC (ret).

The United States Northern Command (NORTHCOM), the newest of America’s regional combatant commands, may not be a household name but, as a JINSA delegation learned during a recent visit, it plays a critical role in defending the American homeland from attack whether by terrorists, long-range missiles or natural disasters.
