On September 22nd, more than 450 JINSA leaders, members and supporters gathered to pay tribute to Harris County Judge Ed Emmett who was honored with JINSA’s Houston Leadership Award. Lieutenant General David Fridovich, USA, Deputy Commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) delivered the keynote address.

Mayor Annise Parker was honored for her long service and commitment to the people of Houston. The evening’s keynote speaker was Israeli parliamentarian Avraham “Avi” Dicter, a former Minister for Internal Security and head of the Israel Security Agency. Houston community leaders Glen Rosenbaum and Ed Wulfe were event co-chairmen.

The Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA) conferred its Houston Leadership Award for 2009 upon Mark A. Wallace, President and Chief Executive Officer of Texas Children's Hospital, at a gala dinner October 20.

Colonel Richard Kemp, CBE (ret.), former commander of British Forces in Afghanistan in 2003 spoke in April to JINSA leaders in Houston at a reception hosted by former JINSA President Ted Dinerstein.

A record-breaking crowd of more than 750 guests gathered on April 10 to honor leading Houstonian Jeff Love with JINSA's Houston Leadership Award. Vice Admiral Joseph Maguire, U.S.N, Deputy Director for Strategic Operational Planning at the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) presented the keynote address. Prior to his current position at the NCTC, Adm. Maguire, a Navy SEAL, served as commander of Naval Special Warfare.
