We tend to forget the terrible losses and injuries our military has endured when they are no longer covered in the media. However, our military is still sending our men and women into harm's way. That is why JINSA's Deserving Soldiers Holiday Appeal is as important as ever. We are able to help these individuals when the lime light fades away and work directly with them to ease challenges they face.
It gives us great pleasure to announce that JINSA's Marsha Halteman will be honored by the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) with their Outstanding Civilian Service Medal.
For the 9th year in a row, JINSA members and non-members alike supported American troops through JINSA’s Deserving Soldiers Holiday Appeal. In 2011, JINSA raised close $140,000 toward these efforts. Since the campaign began in 2003, JINSA has raised and distributed more than $1 million.
On May 27, 2010, at the invitation of the Special Operations community, a small group of JINSA members traveled to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina to participate in a special Memorial Day dedication and remembrance of the fallen warriors from the U.S. Army's Special Operations community.
This Thanksgiving comes at a time of tremendous upheaval, economic dislocation and a truly historic presidential election. As a country, we are exhausted and jittery, and nothing makes us think the way ahead will be any easier or calmer.
Funds Distributed to Military Families and Recovering Service Personnel
For the fifth year in a row, members and non-members alike supported American troops through JINSA's Holiday Appeal on behalf of "Deserving Soldiers" and their families. Since the effort was established, more than $450,000 has been distributed.
