During the off-the-record conversation, Maj. Gen. Gantz discussed the range of threats facing Israel and fielded questions on missile defense, the U.S.-Israel security relationship and the potential for Syrian-Israeli peace.

A former special operations officer, Maj. Gen. Gantz arrived in the United States in January from his position as Commander of IDF Ground Forces. Participants in the JINSA Flag and General Officer Trip had met with him in that capacity and in his previous role as Commander of Israel's Northern Command.
