Vice President of Operations

Description
The Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA) is seeking an experienced individual with 10-15 years work or military experience to manage its operations.

Duties

  • Manage JINSA’s organizational operations, including overseeing personnel, IT, programming, fundraising and some elements of budgeting and finances.
  • Report to JINSA’s CEO and work closely with him.
  • Work with Members of the Board, some funders and other stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Deep experience in management in the private, non-profit or military sectors.
  • Well organized, thoughtful, comfortable taking initiative, and a team player.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, with strong interpersonal, leadership and presentation skills.
  • A background in fundraising or U.S. national security is a plus.

This is a full-time position with excellent benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Vice President of Development

Description
The Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA) is seeking an experienced individual to direct it national development efforts.

Duties:

  • Responsible for outreach to, and stewardship of, a sophisticated target audience of donors and prospects through face-to-face solicitations, events and outreach to foundations.
  • Interact with existing/prospective donors, manage research of prospective donors, manage proposals to foundations, arrange meetings for CEO with existing/prospective donors, and work with Outreach Director on national events.
  • Report to the Vice President of Operations, when hired, and work closely with JINSA’s CEO.
  • Interact closely with all JINSA staff in our Washington, D.C. office.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of development experience with non-profit organizations.
  • Excellent track record with notable achievements, a general understanding of the U. S. military and the U.S. security relationship with Israel, and the ability to understand and communicate JINSA’s mandate with clarity and certainty.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced setting for a growing organization.
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills.
  • Very organized, poised, pro-active, and detail-oriented.
  • Competency with Raiser’s Edge is preferred.
  • Background in proposal-writing.

Program Associate

Description
The Program Associate will be responsible for managing JINSA’s annual programs to Israel and Jordan, including all aspects of their scheduling, preparation, coordination, organization, execution and follow-up. The Program Associate will report to JINSA’s Program Director and work closely with JINSA’s Israel Director and JINSA’s vendors in the Middle East. The Associate will interact with the range of retired U.S. flag officers and their spouses, cadets/midshipmen, and law enforcement officers and their spouses; work with U.S. military academies; work with foundations and donors that fund JINSA’s programs, in conjunction with JINSA’s Outreach department; and help write program reports. Some travel to the Middle East will be required (up to four times a year).

JINSA’s Main Programs

  • Generals and Admirals Program. JINSA takes recently retired American generals and admirals to Israel and Jordan to meet senior Israeli and Jordanian military, intelligence, and political leaders to be briefed on key challenges facing these key U.S. allies and the importance of a strong U.S.-Israel relationship. Upon their return, participants share their findings and new perspectives in a variety of venues and audiences.
  • Law Enforcement Exchange Program (LEEP). Annual counterterrorism educational program in Israel for senior U.S. law enforcement officials from the local, state, and federal levels. LEEP takes delegations to Israel to observe methods and techniques used in preventing and reacting to acts of terrorism. LEEP sometimes sponsors conferences within the United States, bringing Israeli experts before much larger groups of law enforcement leaders.
  • IDF Leadership Education Program. JINSA brings senior and rising officers from the IDF to the U.S. for an immersive program that educates them about various aspects of American society and factors impacting U.S. foreign policy.

Qualifications

  • Strong administrative and organization skills.
  • Strong writing, communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable taking initiative.
  • Program management and coordination experience. Event planning experience preferred.
  • Interest and knowledge of Israel and the Middle East. Knowledge of military preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.

Digital Communications Associate

Description
We are currently looking for an experienced and hard-working individual to join our organization as a Digital Communications Associate. Duties include:

  • Designing and implementing digital strategies to achieve our objectives, including social media outreach and advertising.
  • Generating digital tactics to amplify communications strategies.
  • Designing and managing social media calendars for JINSA.
  • Drafting and editing written materials such as social media content, digital ad copy, JINSA memos and marketing presentations.
  • Serving as a liaison between JINSA and vendors.
  • Providing JINSA with regular metric reports on digital activities.
  • Staying abreast of new digital products and technologies that could be useful to JINSA.

Qualifications

  • Three years of full-time experience working in a digital role for the legislative or executive branches of government; a public affairs agency; political campaign; corporation; think tank; or trade association.
  • Experience managing social media for communications campaigns.
  • A clear understanding of digital advertising strategies.
  • Strong interest in U.S. military and national security issues, including related to Israel and the Middle East.
  • Forward thinking, proactive and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • An ability to conduct basic research.
  • An understanding of the current political affairs and the legislative process.
  • A strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to prioritize competing tasks on tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (including Analytics and AdWords), Microsoft Office Suite and Apple Keynote, as well as an understanding of Wordpress.
