Mack-Lieberman Letter
On April 3rd a letter authored by Senators Joseph Lieberman and Connie Mack, both JINSA Henry M. Jackson recipients, and signed by 79 of their U.S. Senate colleagues was sent to President Clinton.
The Mack-Lieberman letter addresses the danger of an imposed “American plan” to revive Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.
On April 3rd a letter authored by Senators Joseph Lieberman and Connie Mack, both JINSA Henry M. Jackson recipients, and signed by 79 of their U.S. Senate colleagues was sent to President Clinton.
The Mack-Lieberman letter addresses the danger of an imposed “American plan” to revive Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. The letter reminded the President of the reciprocal nature of the Oslo Accords stating that in order for the Accords to be successful the Palestinians must fulfill their commitment to “rescind their stated intention to destroy Israel” and “fight those who continue to perpetuate acts of terror and violence against Israel.” The letter also addressed Secretary Warren Christopher’s written commitment to Israel “that it would be up to Israel to decide the size and scope of further re deployments of Israeli forces on the West Bank.”
